The lower gallery is currently showing a selection of photographs from the Penarth Pavilion Photography competition. All the pictures are available for sale, framed, at £45 each and proceeds go towards our community fund raising effort for the restoration and reopening of the Penarth Pavilion.

In the Lower Gallery we are currently showing a mixed exhibition of regular and new

A Welsh course will be starting at Washinton Gallery from Tuesday 12th January onwards for advanced learners who want to practice talking in Welsh. The course will be held every Tuesday, 7-8pm (term time) for 20 weeks (£48).

The Washington is proud to be hosting an exhibition by Paperweight – a group of International artists all working with paper. The exhibiton includes paper chains, friezes, framed work, hand made books and small paper shoes made from fragments toshie paper.

Childrens’ Art Club at the Washington Gallery has been working on Pavilion shaped money boxes. The completed boxes will go on exhibition for the Penarth Holiday Festival in July.

Marina Ballroom Project young volunteers recently visited to Swansea War Museum seeking inspiration and doing more research into 1930’s and 40’s styles. The Pavilion Pier project has appointed a new design team for the Penarth Pavilion. Niall Phillips, an architect with Bristol-based firm Purcell Miller Triton, will front the team. Structural engineering firm Ove Arup, have also been signed up together with John Rhoden, a mechanical, electrical engineer and environmental services representative. The Marina Ballroom project aims to uncover the history of Penarth Pier Pavilion during its heyday. Workshops will be held in textiles, fashion, hair, music and dance styles, demonstrating old skills, and young volunteers involved with the project will be meeting older community members to talk about social occasions at the Pavilion.
